If you receive an error while uploading a CSV file, review the error message to identify what needs to be corrected. Most errors are caused by formatting, missing information, or values that do not match the required format.
Incorrect Headers
This error means the column headers in your file do not match the official Odyssey template.
To fix it:
Make sure the column names, spelling, spacing, and order match the template exactly.
Confirm that you have the correct number of columns:
Products: 16 columns
Variants: 6 columns
Inventory: 4 columns
💡 Note: Copying the headers directly from the official template can help prevent formatting errors.
Invalid Category
This error means the category entered in your file does not match an approved category for your state program.
Compare the category in your file with the approved category list for your program and update it as needed.
The spelling must match the approved category. Capitalization does not matter, but additional words or spelling errors may prevent the file from uploading.
Empty Required Fields
This error means one or more required fields are blank.
Review your file and make sure all required information has been entered. Required information may include the product name, category, price, and quantity.
Invalid marketplace_type
The marketplace_type field identifies whether the offering is a product or service.
Enter one of the following:
Product
Service
Do not enter other descriptions, such as Tutoring or Class, in this field.
Invalid is_variable
The is_variable field identifies whether a product has variants, such as different sizes or colors.
Enter:
1 if the product has variants.
0 if the product does not have variants.
No other values are accepted.
Price or Quantity Out of Range
This error means the price or quantity entered exceeds the allowed limit.
Current limits are:
Maximum price: $999,999.99
Maximum quantity: 999,999
Check the affected fields for extra digits, commas, or symbols that may be causing an incorrect value.
Invalid URL
This error means a web address in your file is missing or incorrectly formatted.
Make sure:
The URL begins with
http://orhttps://.There are no spaces in the URL.
The complete URL has been entered.
SKU Too Long
SKUs must be 100 characters or fewer.
Shorten any SKU that exceeds the limit and avoid spaces or special characters such as @ or #.
Before Uploading Your File Again
Before trying your upload again:
Confirm that your headers match the official template.
Make sure all required fields are complete.
Check your categories, prices, and quantities.
Verify that URLs are formatted correctly.
Save your CSV using UTF-8 encoding.
Separate multiple image URLs with a semicolon (
;).Use a unique SKU for each product and variant.
For products with variants, upload the parent item first with
is_variableset to 1, followed by the variant rows.
💡 Note: For larger uploads, consider testing two or three rows first. Once the smaller file uploads successfully, you can proceed with the full file.
