Who Do These Guidelines Apply To?
These guidelines apply to all books submitted by vendors for listing in the Georgia Promise Scholarship Marketplace.
All book submissions must be reviewed and approved before they can appear in the Marketplace.
What Makes a Book Eligible?
To be approved for the Marketplace, a book must meet both of the following requirements:
Age and grade-level appropriateness: The book must be appropriate for the age group or grade level selected by the vendor. This should match the recommendations provided by the publisher or author.
Content requirements: The book must not contain graphic content that conflicts with Georgia Education Savings Authority (GESA) content standards.
What Types of Books Are Not Eligible?
Books containing graphic treatment of the following topics are not eligible for the Marketplace:
Graphic violence
Explicit sexual content
Abuse and harmful practices
Substance abuse
Other graphic, disturbing, or distressing themes
Books written primarily for adult readers are also not eligible.
How Are Books Reviewed?
Each submitted book goes through the following review process:
1. Audience Check
We verify that the age range or grade level selected by the vendor matches the publisher's or author's recommendation.
2. Content Review
We review information from reputable sources, including publisher descriptions, professional reviews, and educational resources, to identify content that may fall within the restricted categories listed above.
3. Eligibility Decision
Based on the audience check and content review, we determine whether the book meets the Marketplace eligibility guidelines.
Tips for Vendors Submitting Books
To help ensure your book listings meet the requirements:
Submit books that are appropriate for K–12 readers.
Select the age group or grade level recommended by the publisher or author.
Provide complete and accurate listing information, including the publisher's description.
