Wyoming Education Savings Account (ESA) Program Overview

Overview of the Wyoming ESA Program including funding, how to use the account, school and provider options, and compliance requirements for participating families.

The Wyoming Education Savings Account (ESA) Program provides eligible Wyoming families with a $7,000 annual state-funded account to customize their child's K-12 education. Funds are deposited in equal quarterly installments beginning July 1 each year.

Who Is Eligible?

  • K-12 students: Must be a Wyoming resident, age 5–20 as of August 1, not enrolled in a public school, and not yet graduated.

  • Pre-K students: Must be a Wyoming resident, age 4 as of August 1, and from a household at or below 250% of the federal poverty level.

How Can Funds Be Used?

ESA funds can be used for tuition at approved private schools, educational therapies, tutoring, curriculum and materials, technology, assessments, transportation to qualifying providers, and more. The Odyssey Marketplace is the recommended way to spend funds — products are pre-approved and require no out-of-pocket payment.

Schools and Providers

After approval, select your school in the Odyssey parent portal. The school confirms enrollment and sets tuition. Families selecting 'Homeschool' or an unapproved school can still use funds for other qualifying educational expenses through the Marketplace or reimbursements.

Compliance Requirements

  • Students must receive instruction in core subjects.

  • Students must complete an annual state or nationally normed assessment and upload results by June 30.

  • Parents must reapply each year to continue participating.

  • Unused funds roll over as long as the student remains enrolled.

  • Misuse of funds may result in account termination and repayment requirements.
