This article is for parents who are reapplying to UFA on behalf of their student. If you are a new applicant, the application will open on April 1st.
The reapplication period for UFA students who intend to return to the program in the upcoming program year is from March 1st to May 31st. In order to be awarded the scholarship next year, students must complete the application. Prioritization is not based on first come, first served. Parents have until May 31st to complete the application, and all returning students are first priority for funding regardless of when the application is submitted, provided it is prior to the deadline.
The application will be opened to all households with a student who has an “Approved” status. During the reapplication process, parents can add a new student or reapply for a student who opted out, was deemed ineligible, or was put on hold. These students will be prioritized as siblings of returning students. The application window for new students closes on May 1st regardless of whether or not they are a sibling of a returning student.
For parents with only “Approved” students, the only documentation required is the student’s portfolio/assessment.
Returning parents are still required to be residents of Utah, unless they are active duty military stationed inside the state, and will not be able to change their home of record outside the state of Utah.
Parents adding an additional student, or reapplying for a student who is not “Approved,” will complete the full application requiring proof of residency and income verification. All active duty military will need to provide their active duty orders and proof of Utah state residency (if stationed outside of Utah) regardless of student status.
Tutorial
Step 1: Select Appropriate Application Year
To start your recertification process, please ensure you are in the correct year. Select “2026-2027” in the dropdown found in the right-hand corner. Once the correct application window has been selected, you may start your application for recertification.
Step 2: Returning Students
Please ensure all returning students have their names checked if you wish to continue their recertification. If a student no longer wishes to participate or no longer meets the criteria, uncheck their corresponding box.
Step 3: Reverifying Parent/Guardian Information
At this step, you will add your parent details in order to verify your information. If you are an active duty military member, be sure to indicate so and upload your active duty orders.
Step 4: Reverifying Student Information
At this step, you will be asked to reverify all information for your student(s). This is also the point at which you will upload your student’s portfolio/assessment.
Step 5: Add Additional Students (If Applicable)
If you wish to add any new students to your application, this is the time to do so. Before continuing, confirm all students have been added. If you need to add additional children, select [Go Back]. If all students have been added, select [Yes].
Step 6: Parent Attestations
Please review the attestations and check the box next to each to affirm your understanding.
Step 7: Application Review
Reviewing your application before submission is required. Please carefully review each step and continue if everything is correct. If anything is incorrect, edit the information before continuing.
Step 8: Information Verification
Once submitted, your application will go through verification. If you have added a student, have a student who is not currently approved, or are active duty military, you will need to complete one final verification step to verify residency and income.
Edit and Resubmit Application
If a mistake was made on your application, you can click “Application History” to edit your application. Please note that editing your application will rerun eligibility.
