Waitlist Award Funding

This article helps LA GATOR families understand how award amounts are determined when a student receives funding from the waitlist.

Students who receive funding from the waitlist may receive a portion of the annual award based on the quarter in which they are funded.

Award Percentages

  • Quarter 2 (Q2): 75% of the annual award

  • Quarter 3 (Q3): 50% of the annual award

Understanding Your Portal

Your Odyssey portal displays the student’s award status for the entire program year.

If your student receives funding in Q2, disregard the Q1 Pending status. Q1 is not covered by the student’s award.

If your student receives funding in Q3, disregard the Q1 and Q2 Pending statuses. Q1 and Q2 are not covered by the student’s award.

Q3 Funding Example

In this example, $7,626 is the total award amount the student could have received for the 2025–26 program year if they had been approved and funded from the beginning of the year.

A student who receives funding from the waitlist in Q3 receives 50% of the $7,626 annual award, or $3,813 for the 2025–26 program year.

The family should disregard the Q1 and Q2 Pending statuses in the portal and focus on Q3 and Q4, since those are the quarters for which the student qualifies.

If the student reapplies and qualifies for the 2026–27 program year, they may be eligible to receive the full annual award amount.
