If my child qualifies for TEFA, does their age have to match their grade placement?
No. A student may still receive TEFA funds even if their grade placement does not match the grade level typically associated with their age.
For example, a student may be placed in a different grade level based on their academic needs or readiness.
What if my child is eligible for Kindergarten, but I want them to attend Pre-K?
If your child turns five years old by September 1, they are eligible for Kindergarten. However, you may choose to enroll your child in either Pre-K or Kindergarten based on what best supports their needs and readiness.
Families can choose the learning environment that best supports their child’s academic and developmental needs.
