This article is intended to help Active Military Duty Louisiana Families understand the steps needed to verify their residency.
If your family is in Louisiana due to an active military order but you do not have a Louisiana State ID or Louisiana Driver’s License, you can still qualify for residency by following these steps:
Step 1: Gather Required Documents
To establish residency, you will need:
- Active duty order placing you in the state of Louisiana
- Two (2) proofs of address in Louisiana as established here
- 1040 Tax Form
Step 2: Application Process
-
Submit the Application
- During the application process, we will send your SSN or ITIN to the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) for verification.
-
Expect a Verification Failure
- Since you are in Louisiana for active military duty, the LDR may not be able to verify your residency and income if you do not have a tax record in the state.
- If they can't verify your information, you will be prompted to upload residency and income verification documents.
Step 3: Upload Military Orders
- During the "State ID or Driver’s License" section, you must upload your active military orders three (3) times in place of a Louisiana ID or Driver’s License.
- Note: The system will save all your uploads in our records.
Step 4: Upload 2 Proofs of Address
- After the military order uploads, the system will prompt you to upload the two (2) proofs of address in Louisiana.
Step 5: Upload Income Verification
-
After the proof of address uploads, the system will prompt you to upload the 1040 tax form.
Step 6: Wait for Manual Review
- After uploading the verification documents, your application will be sent to our team for manual review.
- Let the Odyssey Support Team know that you uploaded your Active duty orders in place of your residency documents.
