This article is for Louisiana parents to know what they need to complete their LA GATOR Scholarship Program application.
Please note that document upload requirements vary on a case-by-case basis. Not everyone will be required to provide additional documentation to verify residency and income. If you were not asked to upload verification documents and your application status moved to Eligible, you are good to go.
Residency
- State ID or Driver’s License and two (2) of the following:
- Utility bill (electric, water, gas)
- Mortgage statement from the past year
- Bill of house sale
- Lease Agreement
- Property Tax Receipt
- Any combination is acceptable, including two (2) different utility bills.
- If your family is in Louisiana due to active military duty, please provide an active duty order placing you in the state of Louisiana in place of the state ID or driver’s license. You must also still provide two additional proof-of-residency documents listed above.
- Please ensure the documents are under the parent or guardian’s name and match the residential address provided in the application. However, for a driver’s license, the address does not need to match the applicant’s current address, but it must be valid within the state of Louisiana.
Income
- 1040 Tax Form from either the 2024 or 2025 Federal Taxes, OR
- 1099 Tax Form (2024 or 2025)
Please ensure the document matches the parent or guardian’s name while clearly showing the Adjusted Gross Income.
Necessary Information
- Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for the applicant (parent)
- Social Security Number (SSN) for each student applying
- LASID for special education students. This can be found in an Individualized Education Program (IEP)
