This article helps Texas families understand what each Individualized Education Program (IEP) instructional code means, so they can select the correct one when applying.
When applying, families with an active Texas Individualized Education Program (IEP) on file with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will be asked to select an instructional code number from a dropdown menu. To choose the correct number, you’ll need to match the code shown in your child’s IEP.
This code can typically be found in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) section or the Instructional Arrangement/Setting section. In some cases, it may also appear under the Local Variation section.
