This article is intended to help parents identify which expenses are to be categorized as Physical Education and count towards the 20% cap. Because families educate their students in many different ways, it is not possible to create an exhaustive list of every eligible or ineligible item or service. This article is intended to serve as a guide to parents. Items and services outlined in this guide should be submitted under Services > Physical Education when submitting for reimbursement.
List of sports and activities that fall under physical education:
- Team sports include but are not limited to: football, basketball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, water polo, handball, and rugby.
- Individual sports include but are not limited to: track and field, long distance running, fencing, racquet sports, golf, combat sports, martial arts
- Rock climbing
- Ice/Figure skating
- Cheerleading
- Equestrian sports
- Rodeo sports
Eligible Services:
- Gym membership (for the scholarship student only and inline with membership/subscription rules)
- Individual coaching/training services to include:
- Personal training classes and fees
- Individual coaching classes and fees
- Sport specific coaching classes and fees
- Gymnastics to include:
- Access to facilities
- Individual classes
- Competition fees
- Horseback riding and rodeo related activities:
- These submissions will be under a high level of scrutiny.
- The purchase of animals is not eligible.
- Classes and competition fees are eligible.

- Balls and consumables (single-use items) examples include:
- Football
- Golf tees
- Hand wraps
- General equipment rentals
- Rackets, sticks, and bats examples include:
- Hockey sticks
- Lacrosse sticks
- Tennis rackets
- Agility, coordination, and movement equipment examples include:
- Jump rope
- Agility later
- Training cones
- Measuring equipment examples include:
- Pedometer (non-smart)
- Timer/stop watch
- Measuring line
- Yoga accessories (one per student)
- Mat
- Block
- Straps
- Rollerblades, roller-skates, and ice-skates rental (for physical education not recreation)
- Pad rentals (football and lacrosse)
Ineligible Goods:
- Wholesale-quantity and bulk purchases: All purchases must for the education of the individual student. Parents may purchase multiple consumable items for the education of their students. But, any large purchases that would indicate reselling or sharing of educational supplies will be denied.
- Any items that were purchased with the intention or possibility of being resold or used to produce a product to be sold.
- Bicycles, scooters, and skateboards
- Weights, weight lifting, and general gym equipment:
- Dumbbells
- Barbells
- Benches
- Resistance bands
- Pullup bar
- Nets and basketball hoops
- Trampolines
- Golf clubs and bags
- Punching bags
- Rollerblades, roller-skates, and ice skates
- Pads (football, lacrosse, etc.)
