This article is intended for families after applying for the 2026-2027 phase of the LA GATOR scholarship program.
Once an application is submitted, we will verify residency and income through the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR). If there is no result from the database check, we will request residency and income documents for manual review. If you are applying for special education funding, we will also verify your student's LASID with the LDOE to confirm their eligibility tier.
Funding for student accounts is subject to annual legislative appropriation of state funds. If allocated funds are insufficient to fund all eligible students, awards shall be prioritized in the following order:
Returning LA GATOR Scholarship Program recipients who were approved and funded in 2025-2026.
Students from a family with a total income at or below 250% of the federal poverty guidelines or students identified as having a disability under IDEA.
Siblings of students currently participating in LA GATOR.
All other eligible students.
Finally, families are notified of their student’s award through the Odyssey platform after funding has been officially allocated by the Louisiana Legislature and approved by the Governor.
