How Are Students Prioritized for MOScholars Funding?

When scholarship funds are limited, students are prioritized based on specific eligibility criteria. This article explains the nine funding priority groups for the 2026–27 MOScholars Scholarship Program.

Funding Priority Groups

Educational Assistance Organizations (EAOs) award scholarship funding to eligible students in the following order:

Priority

Student Group

1

Students who received a MOScholars scholarship during the previous school year.

2

Siblings of students who will receive a MOScholars scholarship during the current school year.

3

Students with an approved Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a diagnosis of dyslexia.

4

Students who qualify for free lunch and live in an unaccredited or provisionally accredited school district.

5

Students who qualify for reduced-price lunch and live in an unaccredited or provisionally accredited school district.

6

Students who qualify for free lunch.

7

Students who qualify for reduced-price lunch.

8

Dependents of active-duty military personnel who relocated to Missouri and are enrolling in a Missouri school for the first time.

9

All other students who meet MOScholars eligibility requirements.

How Are Returning Students Prioritized?

Students who received a MOScholars scholarship during the previous school year receive first priority for funding, as long as they continue to meet program eligibility requirements.

Does Meeting a Priority Group Guarantee Funding?

No. Meeting the requirements for a priority group does not guarantee a scholarship.

Scholarship awards depend on available funding and program eligibility. Students in higher priority groups are considered before students in lower priority groups.
