This article is intended for families interested in applying for the Georgia Promise Scholarship.
The Parent Review Committee will advise the Georgia Education Savings Authority (GESA) regarding the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program. Since the Parent Review Committee will be made up of parents of participating students, parent committee members will not be appointed before July 1, 2025.
What Will the Parent Review Committee Do?
The committee will be responsible for:
- Approving Expenses
- If requested by the Georgia Education Savings Authority, the Parent Review
Committee will review whether certain costs qualifies
- If requested by the Georgia Education Savings Authority, the Parent Review
- Handling Appeals
- If requested by the Georgia Education Savings Authority, the Parent Review
Committee will review appeals of participating schools or service providers.
- If requested by the Georgia Education Savings Authority, the Parent Review
Who’s on the Committee?
The committee will consist of:
- A Chairperson: The President of the Georgia Education Savings Authority or their designee.
- One Expert: Someone with knowledge and experience in education or finance.
- Eight Parents: Parents of participating students, with:
- Four from large school districts (over 10,000 students).
- Four from smaller school districts (under 10,000 students).
- Four from large school districts (over 10,000 students).
How Are Members Selected?
- Committee members will be appointed by the program’s leadership.
- Members will serve three-year terms and may be reappointed, but no one may serve more than three terms.
