Who Qualifies?
Active Duty Military families may apply for FES scholarships if the student:
- Meets the program age requirements
- Is eligible to enroll in a Florida public school
- Has a parent or guardian serving on Active Duty military orders stationed in Florida
This applies to both FES-EO and FES-UA.
Residency Requirements for Active Duty Military Families
Most families must provide two residency documents. However, Active Duty Military families may provide:
- One approved residency document
- Active Duty military orders showing the service member is stationed in Florida
Required Military Documentation
Families must upload:
- Active Duty military orders
- Documentation showing the service member is stationed in Florida
Applications may be delayed if military documentation is incomplete, expired, or unreadable.
Accepted Residency Documents
Active Duty Military families may submit one of the following approved residency documents:
- Automobile insurance statement
- Florida driver’s license or state-issued ID
- Health insurance statement
- Homeless verification or certificate
- Homeowners or renters insurance policy
- Homestead or property tax statement/assessment
- Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
- Migrant address verification letter
- Mortgage acceptance letter
- Mortgage statement
- Residential lease agreement
- Paystub
- Proof of current government benefits:
- Social Security
- Veterans Affairs
- Disability
- Medicare
- Section 8/HUD
- TANF
- SNAP
- DCF correspondence
- Property deed
- Residential internet bill
- Utility bill (electric, gas, or water) dated within the last 60 days
Age Requirements
FES-EO
Students applying for FES-EO must:
- Be at least 5 years old on or before September 1 of the upcoming school year
- Be 21 years old or younger on September 1 of the upcoming school year
FES-UA
Students applying for FES-UA must:
- Turn 3 years old on or before December 31 of the program year
- Be 21 years old or younger on September 1 of the program year
Families applying for FES-UA must also provide qualifying disability documentation.
Application Tips
To avoid delays:
- Upload clear and complete military orders
- Ensure the Florida duty station is visible
- Verify names and addresses match the application
- Upload current and readable documents only
- Double-check that all required documents are included before submitting
