Welcome to an overview of the Wyoming education savings account program, or ESA, as we often call it. In just a few minutes, we'll explain what an ESA is, help you determine if your family qualifies, and provide an idea of how the program can work for you. Let's get started.
An ESA is a state-funded account that gives parents more control over their child's education by providing funds to cover eligible expenses. This means you can use an ESA to pay for private school tuition, educational materials, therapies, and more, customizing your child's learning experience.
The Wyoming ESA program is available for families meeting specific criteria, such as income guidelines. Before beginning the application process, review the guidelines on the website to determine if your family is eligible. Students may not be enrolled in a Wyoming Public School while accessing the ESA.
If approved, you'll receive a set amount of funds to use for eligible educational expenses, including private school tuition, educational therapy, learning software, or tutoring. Once approved, the Wyoming ESA portal will guide you through the spending categories, ensuring the funds are used for eligible purchases. Think of it as creating your own custom educational plan.
The application process will happen in two phases. For Phase One, you will find out basic information that will save your place in line. Since this is a first-come, first-served program, the funds are limited, so you will want to do your Phase One application as soon as possible. Click on the link on the website and fill in the information. No documentation will be required for the first step. You will receive an email confirmation that your application has been received.
Phase Two of the process will begin in April. You will receive instructions via email to submit the necessary documentation to verify eligibility. In preparation, you can begin gathering your child's birth certificate or other proof of age, financial records, and proof of residency. If approved, ESA funds will be available for use in July of 2025.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Wyoming ESA program. We're excited to support your child's educational journey.
