This article is intended for schools who are interested in participating in the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program.
If your child participates in the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program, certain testing and reporting requirements must be met to track their academic progress. Here’s what you need to know.
What Tests Are Required?
Each year, participating students must complete one of the following:
1. A Nationally Norm-Referenced Test
- This is a standardized test that compares your child’s performance to other students nationwide.
- The Georgia Education Savings Authority publishes an approved list of these tests by December 15 each year.
Statewide Assessments
- If your child is in a grade that has statewide testing, they can take these assessments instead.
- The tests are provided by the local public school system.
3. What If My Child Isn’t Enrolled in a Participating School?
Students who are homeschooled or attend a non-participating private school must also meet testing requirements. They can:
- Take a nationally norm-referenced test from the approved list.
- Request to take statewide assessments through their local public school.
4. Reporting Test Results
Parents or schools must submit the following to the Georgia Education Savings Authority:
- Test name and results
- Student details: Grade level, gender, race, socioeconomic status, and English language proficiency.
5. Additional Requirements for Statewide Tests
If your child takes a statewide test through the local public school:
- Inform the school in writing at least two weeks after the start of the semester of their intent to have their child tested using the assessment test.
- Provide transportation to and from the testing location.
